Security forces found the bodies of six persons gunned down by Maoists to avenge the killing of two of their cadre in West Singhbhum district on March 10, a senior police officer said today.
A joint team of CRPF and district police after carrying out searches for two days found the bodies buried on the hill top in Rowawali village in the district, Superintendent of Police, Pankan Kamboj said.
The the bodies dumped on the hill top with a nefarious motive to target security personnel, the SP told a press conference.
Two encounters that had taken place during the search operation justified the motive of the Maoists, Kamboj claimed adding that one suspected ultra was killed during one of the encounters in Kudabeda two days ago.
An FIR has been lodged at the Sonua police station against the 18-member CPI (Maoists) squad headed Prasadji in this connection.
The SP said that anti-naxal operations will continue till the Maoists are driven out of Porahat and Goilkera jungle of the district.
Kamboj said the security personnel had recovered altogether four rifles, one pistol, suspected to have been looted from police, one wireless set, three hand grenades, two detonators, one camera flash, one remote, food items and 25 SIM cards during the search operation.
