Security guard shot dead during attempt to rob ATM cash

A security guard was shot dead by three men during an attempt to rob cash outside an ATM in Pipalia Mandi area of the district today, police said.
The assailants, identified as Lalchand, Pankaj and Mahesh, were arrested within two hours of the incident, said the district superintendent of police Manoj Kumar Singh.
The accused shot Sanjay Lodh, guard of a company entrusted with the task of loading cash in the ATMs of a nationalised bank, he said.
Lodh was declared brought dead at the hospital.
The accused planned to loot cash while it was being loaded in ATM. However they panicked when the gunshot alerted local people and fled on their bikes without taking the cash.

Acting swiftly, police tracked them down and arrested them within two hours, the SP said.
