Security stepped up in Dhubri for Chhat Puja

Besides the general security blanket, sensitive places have been sanitised and additional security personnel deployed in the vulnerable areas of the communally sensitive Dhubri district, police said.

The night curfew imposed since Durga Puja last month after clashes between two groups would be relaxed from 10 pm to 5 am on November 19 for Chhat Puja, district administration sources said.

The security arrangements have been intensified in the district also in view of the renewed violence in the Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts (BTAD), the police added.
