Siemens today installed an ultrasound system with wireless transducers, claimed to be the first in the country, in the 350-bedded K G hospital here.
Stating that the system is flexible, fast responsive and has an infection control risk insterile interventional settings even when they are covered in sterile sheaths, Kailash Yagnik, head, Clinical Products Division, Siemens Health Care, said the device helps user operate the transducers up to three meters away from the system providing a more ergonomic environment for physicians.
The installation of the system provides a significant boost to availability of latest technology and healthcare innovation, since the contribution of ultrasound has been on increase in different clinical fields, he told reporters.
The removal of cables has made a significant difference enabling an ergonomic environment for physicians in operating theaters or interventional environment, further helping them to make better treatment decisions, Yagnik said.
Later talking to PTI, Yagnik and G Bhakthavatsalam, Chairman of K G Hospital, said that innovation did not mean escalated treatment charges and burden on patients.
The system can provide world-class imaging service at affordable rates for the benefit of common man, they said.
