Copper and other base metals showed a weak trend at the local non-ferrous metals market today with prices falling up to Rs 2 per kg largely in tandem with a weak trend overseas and subdued demand.
Traders attributed the fall in copper and other metal prices to a weak trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME) before data on industrial production from China, the world's biggest user of industrial metals.
Besides, subdued demand from domestic industries also weighed on prices, they said.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in October lost 0.3 per cent to 49,650 yuan (USD 8,064) per tonne in Shanghai, while zinc for delivery in three months retreated by 0.5 per cent to USD 2,319 per tonne at the LME.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap shed Rs 2 to Rs 426 per kg. Zinc ingot also traded Re one lower at Rs 110-116 per kg.
