Select pulses slide on higher supply, sluggish demand

Prices of select pulses led by moth and gram fell up to Rs 150 per quintal at the wholesale market today, pulled down by improvement in supplies in the market against slackened demand from retailers.
Marketmen said besides adequate stocks following increased supplies by stockists amid government's decision to increase imports mainly weighed on select pulses prices.
Meanwhile, the government yesterday sharply hiked the minimum support price (MSP) for pulses by up to Rs 275 per quintal for this year to boost domestic output and check price rise.
In the national capital, moth eased by Rs 150 to Rs 5,700-6,000 per quintal. Gram and its dal local and best quality were down by Rs 130 each to Rs 4,400-5,100,Rs 4700-4900 and Rs 4,800-5,100 per quintal respectively.

Moong and its dal chilka local traded Rs 50 each lower at Rs 6,800-7,500 and Rs 7,600-8,100 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality were down by a similar margin to Rs 7,600-7,900 and Rs 8,400-8,500 per quintal.
