Shiv Sena today condemned Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's statement criticising security forces for the shooting incident in Ramban district which claimed four lives and said BSF fired only in retaliation.
"We condemn Omar Abdullah's comments on security forces. Actually, BSF just retaliated to the mob attack," president Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena, Ashok Gupta said after carrying out a procession in support of security forces here.
Omar had earlier said it was unfortunate that in spite of costly lessons learnt in 2008 and 2010, some amongst us are determined to repeat past mistakes and use force against unarmed protesters.
Four people were killed and several others, including a BSF jawan, were injured when an angry mob tried to attack the BSF camp in Gool area of Ramban district yesterday.
"Residents of Jammu and Kashmir are witnessing unfortunate and ugly political scenario. On one side Omar Abdullah condemns the incident of firing at Ramban, while minister of state for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo condemns the attack on security forces," Gupta said adding, this highlights the casual approach being maintained by the government on such a delicate issue.
"The state government wants to count votes over bodies of both Hindus and Muslims. Congress has adopted silence over the incident. The government should stop its discriminatory approach or otherwise it is the high time for extension of provision of (Article) 356 for dismissing the government," he added.
