In his nomination papers filed today for the April 24 elections, Kamat declared that he and his wife Maharukh own movable assets worth Rs 11.85 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 37.02 crore.
Kamat, who is AICC general secretary, is a LLB from Government Law College, Mumbai, and is the director in Gaurinandan Properties and Management Pvt Ltd.
The Congress veteran owns a 1001 sq ft flat in suburban Worli, which is valued at Rs 3.72 crore. He also owns a flat inherited from his father in Vasant Enclave in Delhi, which is worth Rs 1.25 crore.
Kamat is pitted against Shiv Sena strongman Gajanan Kirtikar, Bollywood director and MNS candidate Mahesh Manjarekar, and Mayank Gandhi of AAP. Also in the fray are Kamaal Rashid Khan of Samajwadi Party and Bollywood starlet Rakhi Sawant who filed nomination as Rashtriya Aam Party which she floated recently.
