Director-duo Abbas Mustan say they are working on a script which can be developed as a sequel to their hit 2002 romantic-thriller "Humraaz".
"There is one script and it can be directed as 'Humraaz 2'. We are working on it. The idea is it can be made into a sequel. We will go for younger lot of actors but we are still working on it," Abbas-Mustan told PTI.
"Humraaz" was produced under Venus Movies banner. The film, starring Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Amisha Patel in lead roles, performed well at box office.
The directors are also working on "Race 3", the third installment of "Race", a 2008 thriller produced under the Tips banner.
It had Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy in pivotal roles and did good business at the box office.
The sequel "Race 2" was released in 2013, and was also a success. The film explores themes of sibling rivalry, betrayal and passion.
"It is in scripting stage... Too early to talk about it. The character of Anil Kapoor will be part of the project. There will be two heroines," the duo said.
There were reports of some financial issues between the producer and Saif.
On this, the directors said, "I don't think so there was any problem with money. Saif has done three-four films with producer Ramesh Taurani (producer of Tips Films)."
Also there were reports of a sequel to their Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Baazigar".
"No I don't think it is true. Shah Rukh Khan cannot be part of it. We love him, he is busy. He is on the top now. I am happy for him," they said.
"Baazigar" a 1993 Bollywood crime-thriller film was directed by Abbas-Mustan. It is a contemporary thriller about a young man who stops at nothing to get what he wants.
Reportedly, the story of "Baazigar" was inspired from the Hollywood film 'A Kiss Before Dying'. The film got commercial success at the time of its release.
