Sequel to 2001 comedy 'Super Troopers' has been announced.
Actor Steve Lemme, who starred in the original, said the makers were waiting for some legal disputes to be resolved before announcing the sequel, reported Us magazine.
"You know, it was a combination of having to settle some of the legal disputes about making a sequel, while also negotiating terms for it.
"The fans have been asking for it for a while, but we were finally able to package everything together. Fox is going to distribute the film, but we needed to raise the money for it, with a minimum budget of USD 27 million, which we've just about raised.
"There may be a 'Kickstarter' launched to raise the last little bit," the 45-year-old actor said.
Lemme, without divulging details of the movie, said it is one of the most unique films he has done in recent times.
"I think it's one of the more unique and interesting stories I've seen in awhile. But the movie picks up pretty much where we left off in the first one. It's a few years later. The biggest difficulty was trying to top that opening scene, which so many people have complimented us on. I think we've done it," he said.
The first movie, which starred Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter, followed the hilarious antics of five Vermont state troopers, patrolling near the border of Canada.
Lemme also said the filming is likely to start at the beginning of 2015, with pre-production taking place in November.
