Services pip Railways to make semis

Services snatched a thrilling 61-60 win against Indian Railways in the concluding men's Group A league match and entered the semi finals of the Rs 5 lakh prize fund 10th Savio Cup All-India Basketball Tournament at the on Bosco High School here.
The Services victory enabled Indian Overseas Bank from Chennai to also advance to the semifinal league in the men's section from the same group.
The men from armed forces were well-served by Narendar who led the scoring with 19 points and Jogender, with 10 points, Harinder (16 points) and Harminder (15) did the bulk of the scoring for Railways.

In an inconsequential Group B league encounter, ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) pulled off a 55-52 win against Punjab.
In women's competition, defending champions Southern Railway recorded a comfortable 62-52 victory over Maharashtra.
Adhirai Sr., with 20 points, was the leading scorer for the cagers from the south while seasoned Manisha Dange almost single-handedly scored an impressive 29 points for the losing cagers.
Results: Men's league (Group A): Services 61 (Narendar 19, Jogender 10) beat Railways 60 (Harminder 15, Harinder 16); ONGC 55 (Lavneet 27) beat Punjab 52 (Mohit Bhandari 10).
Women's league: Southern Railway 62 (Adhirai Sr. 20) beat Maharashtra 52 (Manisha Dange 29).
