Services reach 267/7 in reply to Goa's 606/6 decl

Young left-hander Rahul Singh today struck his career-best 89 under pressure to rescue Services from a jittery start to reach 267 for seven against Goa on the penultimate day of a Ranji Trophy Group C match here.
Services will be fighting for a draw tomorrow.
In reply to Goa's 606 for six declared, Services resuming the day on 39 for one and were quickly reduced to 71 for four with rookie seamer Felix Alemao (3/52) striking thrice, which also denied Ravi Chauhan a half-century by three runs at the DRIEMS Ground in Tangi on the outskirts.
But the 21-year-old Rahul Singh, who made his first class debut in the last match against Tripura, struck his second successive half-century and shared two crucial partnerships with Nakul Verma (29) and Muzzaffaruddin Khalid (43 batting) to lead the rescue act.
Singh hit 15 boundaries and completed his second half-ton from 82 balls but he could not make it big and was dismissed by Shadab Jakati, who returned with an impressive 3/47.
Diwesh Pathania was giving Khalid a fine support batting on 29 at the stumps.
