Kalam's grand nephews Sheik Dawood and A P J M Sheik Saleem today met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and handed over a letter from the former President's elder brother A P J M Maraikayar addressed to the Prime Minister.
The letter urged the PM to set up 'Kalam National Centre for Knowledge Discovery' at 10, Rajaji Marg, the residence where Kalam stayed after his stint at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The family, while thanking the Home Minister and the Centre for extending their support during the funeral of Kalam, also requested that state honours be extended at his memorial at Rameshwaram on his birth anniversary on October 15 and death anniversary on July 27 every year.
