Seven Information technology enabled projects were launched here today for the convenience of litigants and advocates in the Punjab and Haryana High Court here.
The projects were launched by Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar.
Explaining functionalities of the projects, Chairman of the High Court's e-Governance and Computer Committee, Justice Hemant Gupta said the Punjab and Haryana High Court has digitalised 22 lakh cases comprising 14 crore pages; 48 lakh interim and final orders.
In the process, more than 206 tonnes (112 truck load) of waste paper have been weeded out resulting in availability of valuable space, he said, according to a Haryana government release here.
Scanning of judicial records has streamlined issuance of copies, inspection of files, facilitated paperless court and record-keeping resulting in decentralisation of control and availability of judicial record at click of mouse.
"Paperless courts and e-filing future of court proceedings have started. It would not only be environmental friendly, saving cutting of thousands of trees by reducing usage of paper but also would give flexibility and mobility to the advocates, public litigants as well as judges," he said.
Soon computers would be installed in courtrooms for advocates to provide e-files of cases fixed in court.
The scanned case files have now facilitated availability of paper-books of pending cases to the office of Advocate General, Haryana, he added.
Similarly, module for inspection branch would facilitate e-inspection as litigants and advocates shall be informed about availability status of file through SMS, website as well as on touch screen.
