Four persons were killed while having tea at a stall along NH 34 at Itahar around 5.30 AM when a maize-laden truck mowed them down and hit the tea stall after its brake failed, a senior district police officer said.
Two persons injured in the mishap were taken to Raiganj district hospital where their condition was stated to be critical, the officer said.
In another accident, three persons, on way to Raiganj, were killed in the afternoon after their motorcycle was hit by a bus at another area on NH 34 under Itahar police station limits, police said.
