seven taken into custody with regard to engineer's murder

: Seven persons, including a law graduate working in a private firm and a first year college student have been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the murder of an engineer, police said.
Rajeshkumar was hacked to death by a gang yesterday evening by a gang as he was walking along a road near a hospital at Avarampalayam area in the city.
Based on clues, police took into custody seven persons, all from Pazhaiyur on the outskirts for questioning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that previous enmity between the two groups over a game of cricket was the reason for the murder, which reached its peak during the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations a fortnight ago, police said.

Cases under various sections, including 302 (Murder) have been registered against them and further investigations are on, they said.
