Seven-year-old physically challenged boy abandoned by parents

In a heart-rending incident, a seven-year-old physically challenged and dumb boy was today found abandoned near the Erwadi durgah here.
The boy was brought here by his parents last night and abandoned, Durgah officials said.
The boy was holding a bag containing three sets of clothes, police said.
The boy could not answer any questions but kept smiling at people.
Officials of the durgah rescued him and informed the Child Helpline unit of the district, which took custody of the boy.
Helpline coordinator George said the boy could be from Madurai.
The boy has been sent to a home for the mentally challenged at Devipattinam, near here, and would be handedover to the Child welfare committee tomorrow, an official said.
