Several govt employees suspended in reported hooch tragedy

Around twelve government employees, including excise and police officials, were today suspended following death of five persons in Unnao district in a reported hooch tragedy, an official spokesman said here.
A district excise officer along with the excise officer, chief constable and four other officials have been suspended on the directives of the Chief Minister, he said.
SP Unnao MP Singh said that four policemen have been suspended after the death of five persons.
Initially, the local authorities while citing other reasons said that the real cause of death would only be known after the post-mortem report was received.
However, a police spokesman said that during a preliminary probe, consumption of liquor has come to light.

He said that the Indian Made Foreign Liquor and country- made liquor shops are located only 300 meters from the spot where the incident occurred.
