Severe storm hits Shimla, surrounding areas

A severe storm, accompanied by rain today hit Shimla and surrounding areas uprooting trees, interrupting power supply and throwing normal life out of gear.
The local MeT office has warned of thunderstorm and squall in mid and lower hills tomorrow andrains orthunderstorm in several parts of the state over the next three days.
The storm uprooted trees, blew away rooftops of kachha houses and interrupted power supply.
Scores of tourists and local residents who were strolling on Mall Road and Ridge areas were forced to rush indoors.
It was heavily overcast and dark clouds reduced visibility to few meters, forcing vehicles to move at a snail's pace.

The maximum day temperatures which had soared during the past two days, plummeted after the storm which caused damage to mango and other fruit crops in mid and lower hills.
Una in the lower hills was the hottest with maximum temperature at 41.6 degree, followed by Sundernagar 36.3 degree while Kalpa and Manali recorded a high of 21. 4 degree and 24 degrees respectively.
Dharamsala posted 32.8, Solan 31. 2, Shimla 27.6, Manali 24 and Kalpa 21.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
