In the run-up to the prestigious ceremony, the 49-year-old presenter has said the industry is biased to nominate only a particular type of films at the Academy Awards, reported Variety.
"I would have liked to have seen 'Deadpool' get nominated. I do think there's a certain type of movie that's not considered for awards. It's a shame, because there's nothing serious about the movies; they're an escape," Kimmel said.
The popular talk-show host added comedy films "are also underappreciated" and that "maybe too much gravity (is) applied to the nomination process".
