Mittal assumed the charge as Chairman and Managing Director, succeeding Rear Admiral Vineet Bakhshi, who superannuated yesterday after carrying out extensive modernisation of the shipyard, a Goa Shipyard release said here.
An alumunus of the IIT, Kharagpur, Mittal has held various senior positions in the Navy.
In his eleven years of service at Defence Ministry headquarters here in material branches, Mital gained an insight into fleet maintenance, weapon engineering and the intricacies of surface and submarine design.
As part of the Directorate of Naval Design (Surface Ships), he has led and co-ordinated construction and delivery of two major frigates for the Indian Navy. He also played a major role in integration of weapons and systems on board the vessels.
