Kateel, who made an on-the spot inspection of the road development work yesterday, told reporters that the concreting and asphalting work for 11.6 km of the 13.62 km stretch had already been completed.
The deadlines announced by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had to be changed twice due to heavy rains in April and May that hampered the work, he said, adding instructions had been given to officials to meet the new deadline.
The Shiradi Ghat road was closed for traffic on January 2 this year and vehicles had been diverted via the narrow Charmadi Ghat road causing traffic blocks quite frequently.
