A station officer was today arrested after allegedly being caught taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a parking contractor here, police said.
Sandeep Kumar More, Station House Office of Sector 29 Police Station, was caught redhanded by the officials of State Vigilance Bureau while taking the bribe from Rakesh Kumar.
Kumar is a government-approved parking contractor whose job is to tow away the vehicles which are wrongly parked at different roads in Sector 29, SVB officials said.
SVB's Senior Superintendent of Police Yogendra Nehra said Kumar had written a complaint in which he alleged that More was demanding from him Rs 5,000 per day for parking the tow-away vehicles at the premises of the police station.
Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid and Sandeep was caught taking Rs 20,000 as four-day parking charges from Rakesh. The bribe money was later seized after a duty magistrate raided the SHO's office.
