Police said that a complaint in this connection was lodged by Rohit Kumar, a resident of Balmiki locality at Qadian, stating that his younger sister went to a confectionery shop to purchase some household articles when the owner of the shop, Arjan Bhatti, allegedly raped her after closing the shutter last evening.
The accused ran away from the spot after committing the crime, police said, adding the girl was handed over to her parents after a medical examination.
A case has been registered against the shopkeeper, police said.
