Short-term training programme on wireless research trends held

Latest research and development in the field of wireless communication and its application in areas such as 4G and digital broadcasting were the focus of discussions at a six-day training programme organised by a city-based engineering college.
Speakers, including senior faculties and scientists from various institutions, including IIT-Madras and National Institute of Ocean Technology, gave an insight into various aspects of wireless communication during the event which concluded yesterday at the Sri Sairam Engineering College.
Sponsored by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), the Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on "Recent Trends and Research Issues in Wireless Communication" was organised by the college's Department of Electronics and Communication from August 3, a release said today.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. K. Giridhar, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT-Madras spoke about "Wireless Communication Evolution beyond 4G".
A lecture on "Wireless Applications in Ocean Technology" by NIOT Scientist Arul Muthiah and "Digital Broadcasting" by A Vetrivel of Regional Telecom Training Centre of BSNL were among the highlights of the event. College Principal Dr C V Jayakumar Presided over the inauguration and valedictory.
