"The SHRC has taken suo moto cognisance of the matter and asked the IG North Bengal to submit a report within three weeks. It has also asked the IG North Bengal to conduct the inquiry by an officer not below the rank of DIG," state Human Rights Commission joint secretary Sujay Haldar said.
Jaideep Mukherjee, a student of Fanindra Deb Institution, was found hanging in his home on May 27.
According to the FIR, Jaideep was mentally and physically tortured by the two teachers after a bench on which he and four others boys were sitting, broke two weeks ago.
The police said complaints of torture by the accused teachers were not new.
