Shripad Naik inaugurates NPCDCS centre in Gujarat

Union Minster Shripad Naik today inaugurated the NPCDCS centre at Gandhi Civil Hospital in Surendranagar city and also sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the renovation of an Ayurvedic hospital.
The centre has been set up as part of the ongoing project to integrate Ayush (Ayurveda) with National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) by the Union Health Ministry, an official release said.
Stressing on urgent need to control diseases like cancer, blood pressure and diabetes, the Minister of State for AYUSH said, "Since treatment of these ailments is very expensive, families of the patients face acute financial crisis."

"To control such disease right from the initial stage, we have launched this NPCDCS project, as Ayurveda has the capability to cure these ailments," he was quoted as saying in the release.
Gujarat is one of three states chosen by the Centre to implement this project, Rajya Sabha MP Shankar Vegad said.
