"SI Srinivas Rao and traffic cops were today checking vehicles in Mahabubnagar town and stopped three persons riding a bike. While they were subjecting them to breath analyser tests one of them fled the spot, Mahabubnagar II Town Circle Inspector D Raju told PTI.
Two others identified as Amar and Venkatesh were put on tests, the duo initially refused and questioned the cops saying they work in court.
"During the tests it was found that they were drunk beyond permissible limits. The duo took a stick lying nearby and hit the SI resulting in minor injuries," the Inspector said.
A case was booked under relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicle Act.
