Sikkim Chief Minister P S Golay on Tuesday urged all banks in the state to ensure 100 per cent financial inclusion by March next year.
"The banks should focus on achieving 100 per cent financial inclusion in Sikkim by the end of March 2020," Chief Secretary A K Shrivastava quoted Golay as saying in a statement on the occasion of the 61st State-level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting here.
The chief minister hailed the banks for making efforts to improve credit linkages to self-help groups, which have further enhanced agriculture-related activities.
He also lauded the active participation of the lenders in different social security schemes, Shrivastava said.
Golay called upon bankers to organise financial literacy camps at schoosl and colleges, stating that students play a vital role in the country's progress.
