Concerned over increasing noise pollution in Shimla town, the administration has identified silence zones for checking noise pollution.
The places finalised to be included under silence zones are schools and colleges located along motorable roads, Himachal University, IGMC Hospital, DDU Hospital, State Civil Secretariat, Raj Bhawan, Vidhan Sabha and Ayurvedic Hospital.
The parameters set by Pollution Control Board to check noise pollution would be strictly enforced and 'Silence Zone' boards would be displayed to make people aware and necessary action would be taken against the defaulters, said a senior district official.
