Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ambala, Surender Pal Singh constituted the SIT under the supervision of ACP (headquarter) Hitesh Yadav after the recovery.
A mobile phone was also recovered from the possession of three Nigerian inmates lodged in Ambala Central jail who had been arrested under NDPS Act a few months back.
The mobile phone was found hidden in the wall of the jail barrack.
The jail authorities had conducted a search operation in the barracks last night and the mobile phone was recovered.
The DCP said that the SIT would investigate the entire recoveries of mobile phones.
He told reporters here that strict action would be taken against those persons who were found involved in supplying of mobile phones to jail inmates.
Three jail officials were nabbed on the charge of supplying mobile and SIMs to some jail inmates last year.
