The SIT probing the outbreak of Jaundice in Shimla and surrounding areas today quizzed a junior engineer of Pollution Control Board (PCB) and also sent supplementary questionnaire to Member Secretary of the PCB and Commissioner, Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC).
The SIT had sent questionnaires to Member Secretary PCB and Commissioner, SMC on Thursday and supplementary questionnaires have been sent after perusing the replies to the questions, SP, Shimla DW Negi said.
The SIT was scanning the records of past few years to look into the role of various departments to ascertain whether there was sheer negligence or complicity that led to present situation.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Ashok Sood, died of Jaundice at PGI, Chandigarh, raising the total number of deaths so far to six.
The Jaundice which spread from Shimla to Solan and Sirmaur districts, prompted all seven MLAs of Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur district to launch a bitter attack on the government for its abject failure to control the disease even after six weeks.
The MLAs alleged that there was no coordination between the concerned departments andthe government was totally indifferent to the plight of the people.
The MLAs alleged that the government wasted three years in pursuing vindictive politics, targeting the HPCA stadium, creating obstructions in setting up of Central University and defending the chief minister, facing corruption charges and had no time for developmental works.
