The Ministry of Defence launched a special digital campaign from December 1 to December 7 to enable people to express their solidarity with the soldiers of the Indian Army.
The country has been observing December 7 as the Armed Forces Flag Day since 1949 to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought on the borders to safeguard the country's honour.
"India's Armed Forces show supreme excellence during wars, natural calamities, rescue ops. As a token of respect, I have contributed to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. I urge you to contribute to the fund as well using http://ksb.gov.in #ArmedForcesFlagDay," Sitharaman tweeted.
