Six detained in Lajpat Nagar heist case

The daylight Lajpat Nagar heist in which around Rs 8 crore was looted is almost cracked with police detaining six people, including close aides of Rajesh Kalra, and identifying some of their other associates.
"Six people were detained from south Delhi area late last night and five of their associates have also been identified," a senior Delhi Police official said.
Several police teams are carrying out a series of raids across Haryana, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh to nab those identified in the case.
Although senior police officers are tight-lipped over the case, police sources said that investigators are waiting for the complete recovery and arrests of all those involved in the robbery before going on record naming the accused and revealing the entire plot.
The sources said that those detained include close aides of Rajesh Kalra, who owned a major portion of the looted cash in the heist. They had allegedly played insiders role in the loot. Police team are now trying to nab the henchmen of the loot.
Tuesday's robbery, one of the biggest in the national capital in terms of money involved, was carried out in a matter of minutes.
Police had said around five to six armed men intercepted a Honda City car near Lajpat Nagar Metro station around 9 AM and fled with the vehicle and Rs 7.69 crore cash.
The incident took place at 9:00 AM, when Rakesh Kumar a businessman and manager of Kalra and his partner Rahul Ahuja, was going to Karol Bagh along with three employees, identified as driver Subodh, Rajesh and Baijnath.
Kumar and the other were travelling in Kalra's car. Kumar had told police that they collected cash from Kalkaji and Greater Kailash to deposit it in two separate bank accounts in Karol Bagh.
