Six injured as mob attack amusement park

The trouble began when two groups of people clashed outside the park. When a security guard of the park was escorting an injured youth to a hospital, he was attacked by a mob on a rumour that he had beaten up the youth, Sub-Divisional Officer (Dalbhum), Subodh Kumar said.

Soon the mob entered the park, ransacked its office, smashed furniture and computers and beat up some of its employees. Three press photographers taking snaps were also injured, he said.

Four youths were detained by police.

Kumar said a large number of people mostly youths turned up at the Park as it had announced some offer on the occasion of EID festival.

The mob also damaged glass panes of several vehicles and attacked passers-by while retreating, police said.
