SJVN declares Rs 786 cr interim dividend for 2017-18

Mini Navratan Public undertaking Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has declared interim dividend of Rs 785.95 crore for 2017-18, and paid Rs 504.75 crore to the Centre.
The mini ratna company paid Rs 504.75 crore dividend to the central government, which holds 64.3 per cent equity in the company, a spokesperson of the firm said.
The company had paid dividend of Rs 1,137.57 crore to its shareholders in 2016-17.
The dividend cheque was handed over to the Union Minister of State for Power R K Singh by Nand Lal Sharma, CMD, SJVN Limited at New Delhi in the presence of A K Bhalla, Secretary (Power) and senior officials of the Ministry of Power.
Nand Lal Sharma informed the union minister that during the financial year 2017-18, Ministry of Power had set target for SJVN to generate 8,950 Million Units of electricity under Excellent rating, whereas a total power generation was 9,015 Million Units from 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydropower Project, 412 MW Rampur Hydropower Project and 47.6 MW from Khirvire Wind Power Project and 5 MW from Charanka Solar Power Station till date.
Besides executing Projects in Himachal Pradesh, SJVN is presently executing projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Gujarat. SJVN which has already diversified to wind power, thermal power and power transmission is presently generating around 2,000 MW of electricity.
