City based power transmission & distribution, telecom and railways structure major, Skipper Ltd Tuesday said it has secured orders for installing and upgrading 2500 telecom towers.

The company that works with all major telecom players has bagged these orders from Reliance Jio, American Tower Co and Bharti Infratel.

"Securing fresh new orders of over Rs 150 crore for 2500 towers from various telecom operators. Bulk of these would be adding to the telecom infrastructure of Eastern India," Skipper director Devesh Bansal said.

"Considering the demand, it is estimated that India will need 1,00,000 telecom towers to cater to the rising data demand by 2020, which will greatly benefit the tower manufacturing companies like Skipper. A stronger telecom infrastructure is needed ahead of 5G deployment in India," he said.

India is the world's second-largest telecom market, with around 1.19 billion subscribers as of September 2018.

The company has set a foothold in Latin American market with an order win of approximately USD 5 million for telecom towers.

Skipper said it has been associated with the world's leading Tower design company Ramboll of Denmark for serving the telecom tower market in India and overseas.
