Snatcher duo arrested

Two snatchers, who allegedly targeted people who had just withdrawn big amounts of money from banks, have been arrested, police said today.
The accused, identified as Sandeep (35) and Sanjay (23), operated in around several states including Delhi. They used to steal motorbikes and then go out on snatching sprees, police said.
They used to rent rooms wherever they operated and move out in few months, said DCP (Northeast) Veenu Bansal.
They have so far operated in states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, said police.
They used to track people who made withdrawals of significant amounts and followed them once they came out of the banks, he said.

While one of them used to waylay their targets on the pretext of asking some address, the other would snatch the bag, said police.
The duo, arrested yesterday, was in Delhi for the past few months and the police claimed to have solved several snatching cases in areas under jurisdiction of Jyoti Nagar and Bhajanpura police stations after their arrest, police added.
