Snowfall, rain in tribal areas of Himachal

The tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh witnessed a fresh snowfall and rains while landslide blocked a national highway in Kinnaur district.
Keylong received 10 cm of snow yesterday while Rohtang Pass recorded 20 cm snow, hampering road clearing operations on the Manali-Keylong-Leh national highway. The Border Roads Organisation has set a target to clear the road by May 25.
Night temperatures dipped to minus 0.1 degrees Celsius and 0.6 degrees Celsius in Keylong (Lahaul-Spiti district) and Kalpa (Kinnaur district) respectively, while Manali and Bhuntar shivered at 3 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius respectively, three to four notches below normal.
Dharamsala recordeda low of 10.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan (10.8 deg C), Sundernagar (11.6), Shimla (11.9), Palampur (13.5), Una (16.8) and Nahan (17.7 deg C).
Manali received a maximum of 17 mm rains in the state while Sarahan and Banjar received 16 mm and 13 mm rains respectively, followed by Rohroo (11 mm), Jubbal (10 mm) and Solan and Bhuntar (6 mm each).
However, the maximum day temperature rose to 37.4 degrees Celsius at Una while Sundernagar and Nahan recorded a high of 31.6 degrees C and 30.7 degrees C respectively, followed by Bhuntar (29.8), Solan (28.5), Dharamsala (27.8), Shimla (22.6) and Kalpa (16.2 degrees Celsius).
The MeT office has predicted rains or thunderstorms at isolated places in the mid-hills and rains or snow at a few places in the higher hills for six days starting tomorrow and a dry weather in the lower hills.
