Social welfare dept official accused of seeking bribe

The anti-corruption bureau today registered a complaint against a deputy commissioner of the social welfare department and his aide, a retired senior inspector from the same department, for demanding a bribe of Rs 10.6 lakh.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Kulkarni said that the complainant, president of an NGO which runs Ashram Shaala for tribal students in Beed, had applied for approval to hire six teachers and four employees in 2015.
Deputy Commissioner of Social Welfare department J R Walvi allegedly demanded bribe for him and his aide, retired senior inspector of department K K Ghodke.
Acting on the complaint, Kranti Chowk police station here registered a case today. No arrest has been made so far.
