Sharavan, who worked as a techie in a Bangalore firm, hit his wife Pamdapriya (32) and her mother Parameshwari (56) with a rod at his grandmother's house in Secunderabad last night following an argument. Both died instantly, police said.
The couple got married in 2011. Sharavan later came to know that Padmapriya, who hails from neighbouring Karnataka, was already married. This led to frequent quarrels between them, they said.
Sharavan lodged a cheating complaint against his wife who, in turn, initially filed a kidnap offence against him in Bangalore, police said.
"Sharavan has accused his wife of harassing, abusing him and also insulting him before his relatives and at his office on several occasions besides creating nuisance at places where he went for job interviews," police said.
Last night, Padmapriya went to Sharavan grandmother's house where a heated argument broke out between the couple. Sharavan, in a fit of rage, pushed her to the wall. When her mother intervened, he allegedly hit her and also Padmapriya on their heads with a rod, killing them on the spot, they said.
A case under IPC Section 302 (murder) was registered against Sharavan, while his uncle Angamuthu was booked under Section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender). Angamuthu has also been arrested.
