Spanish musician identifies rapist in court via video link

A Spanish musician, who was allegedly raped in the city a year ago, today identified the accused in a court here through video-conference.
Mohammed Badshah alias Mohammed Ismail Ansari is accused of raping the 27-year-old woman at a suburban Bandra flat when she was living in the city.
The victim, who later left the country, deposed from Berlin through video conference at the in-camera proceedings.
"The survivor identified the accused and also identified her belongings that were produced in the court. Her examination and cross-examination are complete," special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said.
The prosecution is yet to examine another witness, and thereafter final arguments would start.

According to the prosecution, Ansari entered the victim's flat on November 5 last year, and raped her after robbing her at knife point. He was arrested the next day.
Ansari has been booked under IPC sections 452 (house trespass), 392 (robbery), 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
