Sabapathy made the suggestion suo moto in the Assembly during the question time when opposition AIADMK MLA, A Baskar, representing Mudaliarpet, complained of poor basic amenities there.
"Mere allocation of lakhs of rupees would not be enough as the basic amenities in Mudaliarpet would require massive investment", he said.
The AIADMK member wanted the government to ensure that the fees collected by the municipality of Puducherry under "development cess" or other categories were fully utilised.
