Speaking in support of LTTE, one of many cases against Vaiko

MDMK leader and Virudhungar constituency candidate Vaiko faces several cases, including speaking in support of banned LTTE in 2003.
In his affidavit, he said he has been accused of offences with imprisonment for two years or more and has pending cases in which charges have been framed by the High Court.
Besides the LTTE case, others include making speeches against then Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi harming his reputation in 2007.
The MDMK leader said he has Rs 25,000 cash in hand while his spouse Renugadevi has Rs 15,000.
The couple have given Rs 52,03,726 as loan to Tobacco Depot, Tenkasi. While Vaiko does not own any vehicle, his spouse has 93 sovereigns of gold valued at Rs 20 lakh and a diamond stud worth Rs 1 lakh, the affidavit said.
Investments made in banks and financial institutions is about Rs 11 lakh while his wife has about Rs 70 lakh.
Vaiko owns agricultural land in Kalingapatti in Tirunelveli district valued at Rs 33 lakh and a plot in Rail Nagar, Tenkasi, valued at Rs 3.50 lakh.
He also has a 1,000 square foot commercial property in Sankaran Kovil in Tirunelveli district valued at Rs 3 lakh and a 10,000 sq ft residential building in Kalingapatti, Sankarankoil, Tirunelveli district valued at Rs 1 crore, it said.
Total assets owned by him including the commercial and residential property is about Rs 1.42 crore.
For the year 2012-13, the MDMK leader has filed a total income of Rs 6,48,995 and his wife Rs 6,82,372, it added.
