Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today enjoyed his day out with specially-abled people at a 'Raahgiri' event here.
The Chief Minister remarked that such programmes help in confidence building of the differently abled and should be organized in other cities of the state as well.
He said that the physically challenged constitute about 2 per cent of the country's population and their social, intellectual, physical and skill development was crucial for bringing them with the mainstream.
This will also make them fit for employment, he said.
Raahgiri is an event aimed at participation of common people in social activities in their neighbourhood.
The programme jointly organised by Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and paramilitary Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) saw the participants playing basketball, football, cycling, skating and indulging in other sports activities.
Khattar also distributed accessories and helping devices like motorized tricycle, wheel chair, hearing aid and kits for mentally challenged to the differently-abled.
A special contingent of SSB's brass band and musicians showcased their talent during the event as well as a wheel-chair bound sequence dance by the specially-abled.
Khattar also addressed a party workers meeting in Sushant Lok-1 area, where he appealed the workers to propagate the policies and programmes of the government to every household.
