A speeding cluster bus rammed into a car today after allegedly violating a traffic signal in south-east Delhi, leaving three male models badly injured.
Police said the accident took place at 11.45 am RPT am this morning near Nizamuddin flyover following which an irate mob pelted stones at the bus.
The erring driver, identified as Atal, managed to escape.
Police said Nikhil (25) was driving the car while his two friends Sumit (23) and Sahil (28) accompanied him at the time of the accident.
A police officer said Nikhil was taking a right turn from BRT road when the accident took place.
"When he was taking the turn, an orange colour cluster bus heading towards Lodhi Colony in south Delhi allegedly ignored the traffic signal and rammed into the driver's side of the Honda City car," a senior police officer said.
"The impact of the crash was such that the car turned turtle, leaving all its three occupants injured and stuck inside the vehicle," the officer said, adding, other commuters helped the victims out from the badly mangled car.
The victims were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where the condition of Sumit and Nikhil is said to be critical.
The situation was brought under control after police arrived at the scene and seized the bus.
Police are yet to take the statements of the models who stay with their families in south-east Delhi's Amar Colony.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the errant driver at Lodhi Colony police station and a manhunt launched to nab him.
