Sports officer held for bribery

An officer attached to Aurangabad District Sports Office was today caught allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) said.
ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Kulkarni said that the complainant had asked the accused to clear a cheque of Rs 25 thousand that were sanctioned for welfare of youths in rural areas.
He demanded Rs 5,000 for handing over the cheque. He was caught red handed while accepting the bribe.
A case had been registered with the Begumpura police in this regard and further investigation is on.
