A 47-year-old senior executive working for a company in Gurgaon was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a guest house in Paharganj here, police said today.
According to police, while the death appeared to be a natural one, the exact cause could only be ascertained after the initial post-mortem report which is expected to come within a few days.
The deceased has been identified as Rajeev Kumar Dudeja, who had come to the national capital on July 7 for some official work and had been staying at Kaka Guest House in Paharganj.
"Around 7.30 PM on Saturday, a staff at the guest house went to ask him about his dinner plans. As he did not answer the knocks or the calls made on his phone, the staff members of the guest house informed the police," a senior police officer said.
A team soon reached the guest house and broke open the door to find Dudeja lying on the bed. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem and his family was informed of the incident.
"We are scanning the CCTV footage of the guest house to see if he had any visitors prior to the death. Since the room Dudeja was staying at was locked from inside, foul play appears unlikely. We are investigating the matter further," the officer said.
Dudeja was a divorcee and lived with his family in Gurgaon.
