In an apparent murder-suicide, a Sri Lankan-origin woman is suspected of killing her two sons before taking her own life at their north London home.
Her accountant husband, named Sakthivel Vageswaran, found the bodies of his 33-year-old wife Jeyavani and their five-year-old and seven-month-old boys when he returned home from work on Thursday evening.
Scotland Yard said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and are treating the death of the two boys as murder.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, "Detectives are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident."
Post-mortems were carried out on the three family members at Northwick Park Mortuary yesterday.
Police have not yet released details of the deceased, but say their next of kin were informed. Detectives are expected to release a formal cause of death and the identities of the victims in the coming days.
Vageswaran runs his own firm, Vaasi Accountancy, from the address in Harrow, north London.
Vijay Rajh, who lives on the street, said the family was quite private in the relatively close-knit neighbourhood.
"It is a quiet street and some neighbours know each other, but I'm in and out all of the time and I barely ever saw them - they just seemed to stay in the house," he told the Harrow Times newspaper.
Councillor Reg Colwill, who represents the area, said, "I think everybody is the same, they are shocked at what's happened. If it's accurate that the woman took her own life she must have been at her wits' end and didn't ask for help, or didn't get the help she asked for. It's two young children, it's very sad.
