Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Hassan Samoon said traffic movement on the Sonamarg-Kargil stretch of the Srinagar-Leh Highway shall be regulated as per instructions of the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department.
The 434-km long Srinagar-Leh road, which has strategic importance from defence point of view, remains closed during winter months due to heavy snowfall around Sonamarg in the valley and Gumri and Kargil in Ladakh region.
A tunnel is being constructed at Zojilla that will connect the Ladakh region with rest of the Kashmir valley through out the year.
